Class of 1911

Clarence "Cupid" Childs and Charles "Kid" Nichols have been elected to the Baseball Clubhouse Hall of Fame.

Childs was a second baseman playing mostly for Cleveland in the 1890s. He was a short, stocky fellow, hit for a good average with not a lot of power but large numbers of walks. He also played a good second base. Childs posted a .306 lifetime average in a 13-season career.

Nichols was one of the greatest early pitchers, winning 361 games mostly for Boston. He was a key member of those great Beaneater teams of the 1890s. Nichols led the league in wins three years in a row, 1896-88, and in ERA+ twice. He was the best pitcher in the league 1897-98, and one of the best for several seasons.
